This article describes seven years of committed use of a hydrocarbon yield accounting and mass balance system at ANCAP La Teja refinery's storage and distribution plants and the resulting improvements, site-wide integration, economic impact, cultural transformation and other major achievements

ANCAP over the years has learnt how to get the most out of such systems through the proper use of the information they generate. The lessons learned and how ANCAP has been able to get the entire organization - from the operators to the refinery manager - to use the system will be described. As a result of this work, significant savings have been experienced by the company as a whole

KNPC Real Time Online Energy ManagementKNPC Mina Al-Ahmadi Refinery describes the tasks performed to develop and implement real-time, online model for refinery energy cost minimization and energy management. Creating a model of a refinery energy system validated with real time data increased energy efficiency and reduced total energy costs. Published in Petroleum Technology Quarterly, April 2014

KNPC Mina-Al-Ahmadi, Mina-Abdullah & Shuaiba EMSA joint effort between Mina Abdulla, Mina Al-Ahmadi and Shuaiba refineries started to build and define the scope of for VisualMesa Energy Performance Real-Time Optimization for the three refineries. The cost savings and CO2 emission reductions came from two main sources: Excess steam vent / condensing reduction (i.e., less fuel gas used for UHP steam production because of the steam waste reduction) and letdown reduction (i.e., less power purchase for driving the pumps and compressors because of the use of turbines instead of motors).

KNPC Mina Al-Ahmadi Online Energy Management SystemKNPC Mina Al-Ahmadi Refinery with a capacity of 460,000 bpd addressed how to best operate the energy system including trade-offs among electrical system, steam and fuels networks and in the process achieved reduction in energy cost and CO2 emissions using the VisualMesa energy performance optimization system.
